While marketed as a "resort," it's important for prospective visitors to understand that Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC caters to a diverse clientele, including both short-term visitors and a significant number of long-term residents. As some past guests have noted, the "resort" designation might imply a higher level of luxury than some expect, with the emphasis often being on functional amenities rather than lavish ones. However, the campground does provide essential services like a pool, playgrounds, and clean restrooms, which are important for a comfortable stay.
This property offers a variety of accommodations, including RV sites with full hookups, dedicated tent sites, and even cabin rentals, providing flexibility for different camping styles. Its main draw is undoubtedly its strategic location, which positions guests within easy reach of not just Washington D.C., but also Annapolis and the beautiful Chesapeake Bay area. This introduction will set the stage for a detailed look into what Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC offers, its location advantages, and why it might be a suitable choice for Maryland locals planning their next adventure.
Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC is situated at 5381 Sands Road, Lothian, MD 20711, USA. This location places it in a strategic position within Anne Arundel County, providing excellent accessibility to both Maryland's own attractions and the broader Capital Region.
One of the campground's most emphasized advantages is its "proximity to Washington DC." Indeed, it is conveniently located for day trips to the nation's capital, allowing visitors to explore iconic landmarks, museums, and monuments without the hassle of staying directly within the city. The drive to downtown Washington D.C. is typically around 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic, making it a viable option for sightseeing.
Beyond D.C., the campground also offers easy access to other popular Maryland destinations. This makes the campground a versatile base for exploring a wide range of attractions.
Access to the campground itself is straightforward via well-maintained roads. Sands Road is a local route, but it connects easily to major highways that lead to the aforementioned cities. While some reviews have mentioned road noise from external sources, the convenience of the location often outweighs this for those prioritizing accessibility to regional highlights. The presence of nearby towns also ensures that essential services such as grocery stores, gas stations, and local eateries are readily available, adding to the practicality of choosing Adventure Bound Camping Resorts for a stay in Southern Maryland.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC Reviews
This was a very low end campground advertised to be a great one. To call this place a “resort” is a stretch. Nearly all of the sites were people living there which was no problem despite for the messes surrounding their campsites. It appeared management has taken no attempt at wanting to keep the place clean. This really took from the vibe of the campground. Many of the sites appeared to be very close to each other as well, taking away any privacy. We had a site on the outer edge of the park and often found that the road noise was horrendous. We will not be returning here.About the only positive is the proximity to Washington DC.
Jul 13, 2025 · JaydenI would never go back to this one there is no amenities at all when we first got there. They try to put us in a lot that was flooded with water. We went and asked a guy to change us which she was very nice and he changed us to a different one which was better a lot of sand in and out of your trailer, clean and constantly because of the sand the place is like a rundown trailer park people live there all year round our neighbor on one side of us had dog shit all over the place. It’s like he never picks it up. The pool was nice. The kid that was there watching cleaned it very well to me. It’s just around rundown place. If you could find different I would go different place.
Jun 25, 2025 · Valerie GaddyWe went here to take care of personal business in DC. The staff was ok at first (when we went to check in and park our motor home). We were given a spot on the front right side of the park. we had two other trailers beside us one on the right was Lovely, older folks, and the one on the left. Was what I thought a normal enough family, we never interact or had any issues with them, but I noticed the man that lived in The toy hauler next to us was always in his white dodge truck I don’t know if he worked there. He seemed like he did like, but acted like he owned park (even though I know he didn’t). He complained about my two little daughters, causing too much noises even though one is 11 months and the other is three years old and we’re very quiet people that goes to bed at around 11:00 PM usually. I noticed different nights whenever I would look out the window. He was always staring, and my Little dogs noticed the one time he tried to look inside our motorhome. I’ve contacted the office and explained to them that I am uncomfortable with him if I may move. They couldn’t help because there wasn’t enough space for my size of camper. And apparently, before I even came to them, he already spoke to the staff to say that I was trying to open other peoples campers!!!! even though I was minding my own business and not looking into people‘s motorhome like him. So I don’t know what that’s about, The pool wasn’t open. This is far from an RV resort. I encourage you to stay away from this place find somewhere else. I was only staying for three nights and I will never be going back again. It was the worst place to be at.
Jul 17, 2025 · Prophet Gam7ngExtremely tight spaces. Great if you have a pop up or small travel trailer, for those with a larger camper and a truck it’s difficult to park within your site. Staff was okay, camp store doesn’t have much at all, so don’t forget your eggs. Fellow campers were nice (as always anywhere you go). Only real complaint is their roads. Poorly maintained, huge holes all throughout the campground.
Jun 23, 2025 · Bella_BThis campground is far from a resort. We have camped at many other adventure bound resorts and none of them were like this. Sheron in the office was fantastic and very nice. The rest of the campground was just awful. The campsites flood so you’re stuck inside unless you want to step in 6 inches of water when it rains. Pot holes all over the campground, low branches/trees around the already tight campsites. There’s not just seasonal but residential sites in there in between the vacation sites and they’re not taken care of at all. There’s pallets, garbage, wood, appliances, tools, literally crap everywhere all over. The sites are so tight you couldn’t even have a fire without it setting your camper or the one next to you on fire. The office was closed because someone apparently drove through it, so no camp store, no ice cream, the pool was pretty green when we checked in but adjusted over the weekend. The front gate was also broken and just left wide open. My parents rented a cabin and they had roaches, and smelled awful and made all clothing and fabric reek too. There was a pool table in the rec center but no balls or sticks to play… literally zero amenities at this campground. I don’t recommend. I’d stay elsewhere, this campground needs some help, tlc and enforced rules for crap all over campsites. Looks like a trailer park.
