Big Oaks Campground Reviews
I’m going to be fair. The confederate flags are very present. If that makes you uncomfortable, don’t book this place. My review is based on the site and the amenities. The staff were great and treated me very kindly. I appreciated that. The pool was nice, clean and not crowded. I camped with my family in a travel trailer, so I can’t speak to the cleanliness of the restrooms or showers. The sites were very close and didn’t leave much room for a fire or to use the picnic table. The ground was not level and it was all sandy dirt. We were camping though. As a black family, our experience wasn’t the best. The kids weren’t very comfortable leaving the trailer and I felt bad for exposing them to that by not reading the reviews first. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning to this establishment. If you’re not triggered by their symbolism, this is a good bargain for travel trailers and rv’s.
Jun 16, 2025 · Michael BrownVery disappointed with upkeep of campground. We stayed in a heavily wooded area of the campground. Trees needed trimmed and rubbed on camper when setting up and tearing down. The seasonal sites were very unkept with junk and boards everywhere. I hope the management reads the reviews.
Jul 19, 2025 · Ruth RomesbergFriendly staff. A bit crowded as lots are close together. The bathrooms are limited (2 individuals with only 2 showers) and absolutely filthy. No one cleaned them for the three days we were there. Many rules at the pool but not for flying confederate flags at perma-sites. Not welcoming to everyone.
Jun 22, 2025 · Matthew SmithWe enjoyed our stay here but the cabins seemed pricy for what they were..the cabins are very small. The sites are very close and our cabins were in FULLsun,no trees, therefore no privacy. I'm not sure I'd want to be here during the busy summer season but since we were here off season, alot of the sites were empty and it was quiet. The playground and pool were both clean and well maintained and the children spent alot of time there until our site finally had some shade at 6:30 pm
Jun 08, 2025 · Barbara ZimmermanI thought it would be a nice stay for me and the kids but it was horrible. The service people was very rude to me and my kids. I don’t wish anyone to come here at all not even on my enemies. There was also a cockroach. The pools rule were ridiculous.
