Merry Meadows Recreation Farm Reviews
Bottom Line: The campground has a lot of potential and seems to be working toward it. We didn’t experience the “mean staff” mentioned in other reviews, but many amenities were closed during our stay.Pros:Pool & Splash Pad: Perfectly sized with plenty to keep kids entertained all day. The gated splash pad was a standout for safety and fun.Snack Bar: Tasty options at great prices—including soft serve ice cream!Campsite: Spacious and well-spread-out sites, with many wooded and private options. Ours was right next to the pool and playground (no shade, but came with a pavilion over the picnic table).Amenities (when available): Bull riding, mini golf, arcade, driving range, BB shooting, bounce house, rock wall, large swing, trikes, park, RC track, gem mining, and more.Cons:No Scheduled Activities: A seasonal guest play was offered, but we didn’t attend and can’t speak to its quality.Single Dumpster Location: Only one trash drop-off for the entire campground.Limited Amenity Hours: Most attractions were closed. Only the arcade, pool, and mining were open—and only from 12–7 PM.Cash-Only System: All activities required cash, and the on-site ATM was out of order. We had to leave the grounds to find one, which was also down.
Jun 29, 2025 · Crystal DeRoseI camped here starting in the mid 1970’s and consider it being the best time of childhood. Things were very different back then when it run by Clyde Morris and his son Robert. The campground was packed with families young and old every weekend. I hated to leave on Sunday’s. Fast forward 50 years and under the ownership of Clyde’s daughter, it’s become a desolate and overly restrictive campground with more rules than activities. And sadly the family that runs the campground now has chased away all the loyal families that made it so special. It’s sad. Their pettiness, poor decision making and inabilty to run this gem of a campground is unfortunate considering what Cylde, her father worked so hard to start and build from scratch. The only way to save Merry Meadows is for them to sell it to a family or company that knows how to respect their campers, manage the everyday workings, hires staff that can take care of it and restore the once excellent reputation it once had. I would never again recommend Merry Meadows for my family or friends or any others. Go somewhere else and save your money.
Jul 22, 2025 · Bill GrueningerNo loyalty to permanent campers. They nickel and dime you for everything. The bathhouses are absolutely disgraceful. The water pressure is horrific, tent sites are not maintained, the “weekend activities” come at a bare minimum and often with an extra cost. Not to mention the long list of rules and do’s and don’ts is fit for the gestapo. It’s a shame that Mr. Morris’ daughter has run this once family centered campground, into the ground. Do yourself a favor and take your family elsewhere.
Jul 22, 2025 · Jaime FieldsWe had to cancel a trip coming up that we booked last year that we needed to cancel. The reason for the cancelation was my wife has a surgery the day before we were supposed to arrive to remove cancer. Merry meadows didn’t care and would not refund us our deposit. I completely understand cancelation policies. But there are situations that come up that we have no control over and a little empathy and understanding will go a long way especially during a tough time with a cancer diagnosis. Had I predicted we would be in this situation a year ago we wouldn’t have booked this site. We will never visit this campground again.
Jul 18, 2025 · Lucas MontgomeryHonestly the bad reviews on here aren't bad enough. My parents had their RV here for about 5 years and the services and amenities declined each one of those years. The owner and majority of the staff are combative with customers and it seems try their best to make this experience unpleasant. Initially the lack of activities and insane "rules" stopped my family from camping there or even visiting but over the past few years charging $30 for a visitor was the nail in the coffin. My parents are easygoing and had made a few good camp friends so they overlooked the many negatives only to recieve a call last week saying they had 2 weeks to remove their RV because the owner thought they were unhappy. They recieved another call about 12 hours later asking them to remove their RV within 48 hrs. They've never been asked to leave anywhere and will miss their friends but I couldn't be happier knowing they won't spend their weekends or money on such a toxic environment.
