This is one of the nicer more massive parks on LI. The bathrooms are clean enough. The weekend crowds can be a bit rowdy but you’ve got to expect that any weekend anywhere on LI.The park is full of rolling hills and beautiful old trees. Its mornings are quiet too (except on weekends, chatter and music are abound). The beach is only a short walk and has some awesome spots for a chair hammock. Highly recommended for a weekday family camping experience.
Aug 16, 2019 · Ukulele LoverUnderwhelming campground.Negative:1. No fire ring at all and it’s $10/day to rent one from the camp store.2. The water pump next to me is broken and other working water pump is hard to use. No sink at the water pump at all and you have to use one hand to hold the pump handle for the water to come out.3. My camp site has no picnic table because it was moved to another camp site by previous campers, and the staff doesn’t even care to bring the picnic table back for next camper’s arrival. I have to physically drag it back myself.Positive:1. restroom is clean and equipped with showering2. Close to the beach with lifeguard. Although the water is very dirty3. Has a camp store open till 9pm that you can buy snacks, drinks and firewood etc.I have been to other campground with much better camp site and amenities, such as the one at Harriman state park, and this one is just disappointing.
Aug 13, 2022 · Wei Stephen XuSite is clean, bathroom is clean. But this site is not for you if you just want to relax or run away from the city. It’s very crowded and loud. Even it’s at night. Ppl still play music and movie with speaker. No one cares.
Sep 02, 2024 · Ray LeiGreat place to camp! Close to the beach. The site was mostly clean. There are a lot of rules but seems minimal enforcement. They say one car per site but the one next to me had three. Also quiet hours are not really observed.
Jun 20, 2022 · C KNo, this campsite is not a getaway. Obviously, lots of noisy people from the city come here, keeping this site noisy the whole night, loud talks, beating music, you name it.
