This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Range 14 RV Park, detailing its specific access requirements, services, and the unique experience it offers to authorized users from a New Jersey local’s perspective.
In the diverse landscape of New Jersey, finding an RV park that aligns with specific needs can sometimes be challenging. Range 14 RV Park stands out due to its particular eligibility criteria, which are crucial for prospective visitors to understand from the outset. While not open to the general public, its focus on military and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian personnel allows it to offer highly competitive rates and a tailored environment. This park provides a practical base for those visiting JBMDL or exploring the South Jersey region, blending convenience with a distinct atmosphere. We will delve into its specific location, the hookups and facilities it offers, and some unique aspects of staying at Range 14, ensuring that eligible New Jerseyans have all the necessary details to plan their visit.
Range 14 RV Park is located in Browns Mills, NJ 08015, USA, specifically within the vicinity of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL). While the provided address is "Browns Mills, NJ 08015," it's important for potential visitors to note that Range 14 is considered "off-installation" but is part of the 87th Force Support Squadron (FSS) recreational offerings of JBMDL. This means that while it is not directly behind a main gate on the base, its access and operations are tied to military protocols.
For New Jersey residents, especially those with military connections, reaching Range 14 RV Park typically involves navigating to the Browns Mills area. While some reviews mention it being "very far from the interstate," Browns Mills is situated in Burlington County, offering reasonable access to major routes that connect to other parts of South and Central Jersey. Visitors would likely access the area via roads leading from routes such as US-206 or NJ-70, which provide regional connectivity.
Given its primary affiliation, direct entry to the park may involve specific security and registration procedures managed by JBMDL's Outdoor Recreation. Unlike many commercial RV parks, simply showing up might not suffice, as access is generally restricted to authorized users. This is a critical distinction for New Jersey locals to understand; prospective visitors should contact the park in advance to confirm eligibility and necessary entry procedures. Despite being somewhat secluded from major interstates, its location offers a quiet setting, appealing to those seeking a peaceful stay away from heavy traffic, albeit with some unique background noises, as we'll explore in the features section.
Range 14 RV Park, as part of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) recreational facilities, offers essential services tailored for RV camping, primarily for its authorized user base. Based on available public information and customer feedback, the services offered typically include:
- Full Hookup Sites: The park provides RV sites equipped with water, electric, and sewer hookups. This is a significant convenience for RVers, allowing for a comfortable stay without needing to rely on a dump station for every waste disposal.
- Electric Hookups: Sites offer electric service. While some reviews note instances where 50-amp service was expected but only 30-amp was available (possibly due to contractor issues), electric hookups are a standard offering.
- Water Connections: Water is available at the sites. One review mentions a "split faucet with the camper next door," indicating shared water points for adjacent sites in some instances, which is useful to be aware of.
- Dump Station: In addition to individual sewer hookups at full hookup sites, a sewage dump station is also available for patron use, offering flexibility for different RV setups or needs.
- Restroom Facilities: The campground is equipped with restrooms. However, one review noted a "remote bathhouse," implying it might not be immediately adjacent to all sites.
- Picnic Tables and Fire Rings: These amenities are provided at the campsites, enhancing the outdoor experience and allowing for traditional camping activities like cooking out and campfires.
- Affordable Rates: As a military-affiliated facility, Range 14 RV Park offers highly competitive rates (e.g., $35/night, $225/week as per some sources) for eligible users, making it a very economical choice for a full hookup site.
- Reservation System: Reservations are required and can be made by phone with a credit card, indicating a structured process for securing a site.
It's important to reiterate that these services are primarily accessible to "Active Duty, National Guard, Reservists, Retired Military, 0-100% DAV, Purple Heart Recipients, Former POW, Veteran Caregivers, DoD Civilians," with specific rules for sponsorship for non-military members. This restricted access allows the park to maintain its pricing and focus.
Range 14 RV Park, while a no-frills option, offers several distinctive features and highlights that are particularly relevant to its target demographic of military-affiliated RVers in New Jersey:
- Exclusive Access for Authorized Users: This is the primary highlight. The park is "primarily open to military and civilian employees of the DoD," including active duty, retired military, 100% disabled veterans, and authorized civilians. This restricted access creates a community of peers and often contributes to a sense of security and camaraderie among guests.
- Unbeatable Price Point: For its target audience, the cost of staying at Range 14 "cannot be beat." At around $35 a night or $225 a week for full hookups, it offers exceptional value compared to many commercial RV parks in the region, making it an attractive option for extended stays or frequent visits.
- Full Hookup Convenience: The availability of water, electric (30-amp, with some expectations of 50-amp), and sewer at each site is a major plus, providing all the essential utilities for comfortable RV living without needing to move for dumping.
- Quiet Atmosphere with Unique Sounds: Guests often describe the environment as "quiet" and "peaceful." However, a unique aspect is the "peaceful gunfire" from the adjacent range, which can be an interesting background noise that wraps up in the evening. This distinct soundscape is part of the experience.
- Mobile Connectivity: While "cable" is generally not provided, AT&T service is reported to be strong enough for hotspotting and streaming (e.g., a Fire Stick/TV), which is a key feature for modern RVers. T-Mobile coverage may be less reliable.
- Easy Access (for RVs): Despite some concerns about being "far from the interstate" for quick stops, the park is noted to have "easy back in spots" and a "large amount of room to back in" for RVs, simplifying arrival and departure, though internal vehicle parking might be tight if sites are full.
- Basic Amenities Provided: Picnic tables and fire rings are available at campsites, allowing for enjoyable outdoor meals and evenings.
While some reviews point out issues like shared water faucets or dust from passing vehicles on gravel roads, the overall consensus from authorized users highlights the park's value, peaceful environment, and the convenience of full hookups.

For New Jersey locals who are part of the military community or are authorized DoD civilians, Range 14 RV Park presents a uniquely suitable and highly advantageous option for their RV adventures. Its specific nature as a military-affiliated facility, combined with its location and offerings, makes it an ideal choice for this specific demographic within the Garden State.
Firstly, the unparalleled affordability is a massive draw. In New Jersey, where camping and RV park fees can quickly add up, Range 14's rates for full hookup sites are remarkably low for its eligible clientele. This makes extended stays, frequent weekend trips, or simply using it as a convenient home base significantly more budget-friendly than commercial alternatives. For military families and personnel in New Jersey, this represents a valuable perk, allowing them to maximize their recreational budget.
Secondly, the "military-only" (or primarily military-affiliated) access creates a distinct and often preferred environment. For service members, veterans, and DoD employees, staying among peers fosters a strong sense of community and security. It often means a more respectful and quiet atmosphere, as highlighted by reviews mentioning "friendly gathering" and a general sense of safety. This can be a significant comfort for those who appreciate the camaraderie and understanding within the military community, right here in New Jersey.
While its location in Browns Mills might be "far from the interstate" for some, for locals, it offers a tranquil retreat from the state's busier areas. It provides a peaceful setting, with the unique charm of "peaceful gunfire" from the nearby range, which many find unobtrusive. The full hookups – water, electric, and sewer – at each site provide the modern conveniences necessary for a comfortable RV stay, enabling campers to relax without constant worry about facilities.
In conclusion, Range 14 RV Park is not a conventional public campground, and it's essential for potential visitors to understand its specific access requirements. However, for authorized New Jersey locals, it offers an exceptional value proposition: an affordable, secure, and community-oriented RV park with essential amenities, providing a unique and peaceful retreat near Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. It truly caters to the specific needs and preferences of those who have dedicated their lives to service, offering them a well-deserved, cost-effective getaway in their home state.

Range 14 RV Park Reviews
I filled out and emailed 10 pages of paperwork and you are not even on the base. We have stayed at multiple military bases and just showed our ID's at the gate.We were worned that the electricity was supposed to be 50 amps but the contractor only did 30 amps.Water is on a split faucet with the camper next door and when we arrived the guy was using our faucet for his hot tub plus extension cords were wrapped all around the faucet. $35 and nothing there and it is very far from the interstate so we will not stay here again.
Jul 08, 2025 · Debra BraceThis range is not technically open to the public. But for the price, it cannot be beat. It is primarily open to military and civilian employees of the DoD. Full hookup, minus cable. AT&T has enough service to hotspot a Fire Stick/TV. T-Mobile, not so much. Like others have said, peaceful gunfire. The worst thing is the dust of those passing by the site on the gravel roads at what seems to be over the posted speed limits. 😷😶🌫️
Apr 24, 2025 · Timothy GallagherBeautiful place, but we were INVADED BY DEER TICKS! Even with bug spray. So if you stay at range 14, make sure to use lots and lots of bug spray and wear long pants, long sleeves and a hat! Happy camping everyone!
Jun 23, 2022 · wendy bloomeGood: only $100/week, new gravel at sites and some grass between, picnic bench.Bad: old bath house 1 block away, no laundry, sites close together, some sites share water connection, sewer 12" high, water accumulates behind sites during rain, next to skeet range and near other military ranges day and night.
Jun 15, 2019 · shelley richardsonWe've stayed here numerous times bc family is over in Brick. These sites have full hookups but are very close together almost on top of each other. It's on the range outside of the back gate, so expect to hear gunfire during the day, though it's quiet at night. Brown's Mill town is about 3 miles away and they have an Acme grocery store that's pretty clean, an Ollie's, and Alba's pizza place that has great NJ pizza. The comissary and exchange are also down the road on the Joint base. Even though the sites are close together we like staying here while visiting family.
